Why mental health? Nuna’s vision

When someone says to you, “I’m not fine,” what is the first thought that comes to mind? Do you have fever? Do you feel cold? Of course, being sick, no matter what you suffer from, requires the best care, at Nuna, we truly believe that the elephant in the room is mental health care. Don’t you believe us? Let’s listen to the World Health Organization

“One out of four people in the world will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives”

“Depressive disorders are already the fourth leading cause of the global burden of disease. They are expected to rank second in 2020, behind ischemic heart disease, but ahead of all other diseases”

Despite this, 40% of the countries do not have a mental health program. The countries that do so do not have great coverage in the public system. Private insurance tries to close this gap, but it leaves much to be desired.

Nuna was born during the time of COVID-19, but the engine started a little earlier. We researched hundreds of people, including mental health professionals, to understand some key questions:

→ If 1 out of 4 people are affected by mental disorders, why don’t we have more information on the subject?

→ Why do most people who identify with anxiety or depression rarely seek help?

→ Why do the vast majority of people who seek help don’t continue with medical care, treatment, or therapy?

→ Why don’t most good mental health professionals work with private insurance providers?

→ How can we help mental health professionals reach more people who need help?

While we explored the answers to all of these questions in group interviews and surveys, we knew that we had barely touched the tip of the iceberg. Nuna was born that way, with the humble mission of trying to tackle these problems. We are passionately working with people who truly know and care about mental health to provide a more affordable and accessible healthcare system.
